読書メモ『風の歌を聴け』村上春樹
『Hear The Wind Sing』AlfredBirnbaum①
私の読書人生の中でも特別な作品のひとつ。
以前英語版を入手したので、完全な自己満足で特に印象的な文章メモを残してしておくことにした。『風の歌を聴け』は村上春樹氏のデビュー作であり、特に『文章を書くこと』『何かを表現すること』について多く触れられている。読んでいると、何だか長い詩を読んでいるような気持ちになる。私はいつもこの作品を読みたくなるというよりは、そこにある言葉を「眺め」たくなって、折あるごとに手に取ってしまう。
※以下は全て好きな箇所のメモ。（基本的に文章としては破綻しているので読むのはおすすめできません…）
1~2 文章を書く事について
Now I'm ready to talk.
/Writing is no means to self-help.It's scarcely a passing attempt at self-help.
/He was as unnoticed in death as he had been in life.
/The task of writing consist primarily in recognizing the distance between oneself and the things around one.It is not sensitivity one needs,but a yardstik.
/To those of gloomier spirits don't even have dreams.And those with gloomier spirits don't even have dreams.
/Compared to the sheer difficulty of living,the process of attaching meenings to life is altogether clear sailing.
/A gasping chasm separates what we try to be aware of and what we avtually are aware of.And I don't care how long your yardstick is,there's no maasuring that drop.
1.2では主に文章を書く行為について書かれている。これは一種の認識論であり、私たちが認識しようと努めるものと実際に認識するものとの間にはどんなものさしで測ろうが測りきれないほどの溝がある、と述べられている。
そうして作品はいよいよ物語に入る
3~6 僕と鼠
.「金持ちなんて・みんな・糞くらえさ。」
The rich can all eat shit！/They give me a creeps.
/Why don't you think I can't stand rich people?/It's cause the rich don't bother to figure out enything.
/Still, everybody dies in the end,I ventured./So what else is new? Everybody's gotta die sometime.But up until that time there's a good fifty years of living to do,and let me tell you, living fifty years thinking about different things takes a hell of a lot more out of you that living five thousand years not thinking at all.Am I right?
色々な事を考えながら５０年生きるのは、何も考えずに５千年生きるより疲れる。そうだろ？
/Hey,wouldn't we two make a team? Bet we could do great things.
「ねえ、俺たち二人でチームを組まないか？きっと何もかも上手くいくぜ。」
村上作品によくあることだが、この作品にも多くの作品の固有名詞が入ってくる。
例えばフローベールの『感情教育』。未だ読んだことがなく、これから読んでみたいと思う作品の一つでもある。

ねえ、人間は不平等に作られてる。/誰の言葉？/ジョン・F・ケネディー。
7～30 沈黙と伝達について
山羊はいつも重たい金時計をかけている。時計は壊れている。兎がどうしていつも重くて壊れた時計をかけているの？と問うと、山羊は「慣れちゃったんだ。時計が重いのにも、動かないのにもね」と答える。だがある日、兎が山羊に新しく正確に動く時計をプレゼントすると、山羊は非常に喜んだ。
時計は君の心だ、という。個人的に ここの挿話、比喩表現がとても気に入っている。人はどんな事にも慣れてしまうし、諦めてしまう。最も良いことは誰かからプレゼントしてもらう前に自分で時計を新しくすることが出来る事だとは思うけれど、そう簡単にそれが出来たら苦労しない。だからこそ、必要なのは伝達なのだという。
Civilization means transmission,he said./文明とは、伝達である。と彼は言った。
・・・村上春樹の文体は基本的は好きだけど、これ以降はしばらくThe・村上春樹的文体が続く（ので割愛。）
/Poor people can snif f out other poor people the same as rich folk can sniff out other rich folk. /You know,sometimes I get so I can't put up with things.
全編を通して、不平等について、何かを表現すること、伝達することについて書かれている。物語に出てくる「僕」はいつも一般論しか言わない。対して「鼠」はいつも不平等について考えている。この作品の一番好きな文章は後半にあるので、また次回触れていきたい。
